Klook: The Best eSIM for Turkey Travel? (Cheap & Not Banned)

After multiple trips to Turkey, changes in the law regarding eSIM providers, and trying several methods to stay connected, I think I’ve found the best eSIM for Turkey travel.

In my Klook eSIM Turkey review and set-up guide, I think you’ll see why it might be worth giving them a shot, even if you have never heard of them.

The Turkey eSIM Brand Ban

Most major eSIM providers are banned in Turkey, including Airalo, Saily, HolaFly, Nomad, and more. This law came into effect in July of 2025.

With that said, it’s a bit more complicated to know what eSIM to use in Turkey.

It doesn’t mean eSIMs are banned or don’t work, but access to apps and websites in Turkey can be unreliable and even completely inaccessible.

And not just that, VPNs don’t work in Turkey, so there isn’t much wiggle room when it comes to workarounds. At least this is true for NordVPN, which I use everywhere.

Whatever your eSIM provider, be sure to check ahead of time, or give this Klook eSIM a shot.

Can You Download an eSIM within Turkey (Off Local WiFi)?

Klook Test:

If you want to download the Klook eSIM for Turkey, you can do it on local WiFi. Klook and the eSIM install process were not blocked when I tested this.

So if you don’t have your eSIM before arriving or run out of local data, Turkey’s WiFi providers still allow access to Klook and the eSIM.

Airalo Test:

You cannot access Airalo using WiFi in Turkey.

If you want to use Airalo, you need to install it beforehand. That said, you will be able to access Airalo in Turkey using your data plan when you land in Turkey.

I tested this by using my Klook eSIM data connection and was able to open Airalo. On my WiFi, Airalo doesn’t work.

If you use Airalo, be careful you don’t run out of data, as you may struggle to access the app. This is why I prefer Klook, so even if I run out of data, I don’t have to worry about how to top it up.

eSIM vs Physical SIM in Turkey

If you’ve been wondering which eSIM brand isn’t banned in Turkey, you might think it’s easier to just get a physical SIM card.

But in my personal opinion, if you’ll only be in Turkey for a shorter time, an eSIM will be the way to go. Let’s cover them both:

Physical SIM cards in Turkey:

Physical SIM cards in Turkey can be bought at the airport or in the city where you land. The real question is, if you get a physical SIM card, where can you get an affordable one?

It’s true that the airports and independent shops overprice the SIM cards. Monthly tourist SIMs can cost around $35 or more.

If you’re determined to have a physical SIM card and pay less, you can visit an official Turk Telecom shop where they offer very affordable SIM cards. These are the TurkTelecom Tourist SIM card prices on the official website.

eSIMs for Turkey:

To be connected as soon as you land in Turkey and avoid any phone shop visits, an eSIM is the most straightforward option. Plus, you don’t have to worry about finding the best deals across stores.

With that said, most eSIMs need to be installed and activated before you land in Turkey.

For example, let’s say you downloaded an Airalo eSIM before you landed in Turkey. Will it work?

According to Reddit users, you SHOULD be able to access the app, top up data, etc., as long as you set up the connection and package BEFORE you land in Turkey. It seems to be a mixed bag, though.

But if you land in Turkey and try to download Airalo, you won’t be able to access it. While I’m here, I was only able to open Airalo while using my Klook data package. On WiFi, Airalo won’t open.

That’s why I’m sharing the Klook eSIM, which in my experience, is the best eSIM for Turkey travel that you can set up before or after you arrive.

What is the Klook eSIM for Turkey?

Using a Klook eSIM for Turkey has been super reliable and offers a different type of eSIM access than traditional eSIM providers. Why? Because Klook isn’t actually an eSIM company.

What is Klook?

Klook is an experience and travel booking platform similar to GetYourGuide and Viator. They are more popular among users in Asia but are slowly catching on among users in the USA and Europe.

In fact, if you’ve traveled to Japan or South Korea, there’s a good chance you’ve used Klook for booking things like tours, Shinkansen tickets, and more.

And they also sell eSIMs, working directly with the eSIM providers.

Use my code “KAYLACOSMOS” for 10% off your first booking, or 3% following bookings.

How do Klook eSIMs work in Turkey?

As Klook is a travel booking platform, not an eSIM company, it isn’t banned in Turkey.

You can access their app and website with no problem. In fact, they even sell many Turkey tours and tickets, such as Hagia Sofia and Basilica Cistern Skip-the-Line tickets.

Who is the provider for Klook’s Turkey eSIM? When you order the Klook Turkey eSIM, the provider is RedTeaGo.

But I can see the eSIM is active in the Klook app and its expiration date. In this Klook Turkey eSIM review, you can see that Klook is somewhat of a middleman.

Can I Top Up a Klook Turkey eSIM from within the country?

Yes! Well, technically, you have to place a new eSIM order and install it. But yes, you can access the eSIM in Klook, download and activate it, even if you’re in Turkey.

This is the main benefit of buying the eSIM for Turkey from Klook.

How to Use Klook to Download an eSIM in Turkey

If you’ve been convinced by my Klook eSIM Turkey review, then all you need to do next is set it up here. Here’s a walkthrough on what eSIM to use in Turkey: the Klook eSIM.

Not much to explain here; click the link for direct access to the booking page.

Select Your Plan (+ $$ Saving Hack)

My favorite thing about booking eSIMs on Klook is that they have lots of mix-and-match options. You can select packages per the day or buy data in total.

Plan Options

My current plan is 1 gig of data per day for 30 days. And while it says it’s $30, I’ll share how I saved money on this next.

How I Saved 50% on my Turkiye eSIM

The price difference when changing currencies (screenshot from official website)

As I change locations often, sometimes I get my prices in different currencies. And that’s when I noticed that the same eSIM was much cheaper in NTD (New Taiwan Dollars) than in USD.

The 1-gig-a-day, 30-day eSIM costs about 400 NTD, which is about $13 USD. On the payment, they accept major credit cards.

The savings made it easy to decide what eSIM to get for Turkey.

Locate the eSIM Voucher

Once you’ve purchased the eSIM, you’ll get a confirmation page with your order.

How to Start Installing the Turkey eSIM from Klook

The Klook Voucher page includes step-by-step screenshots and instructions for downloading and installing the Turkey eSIM.

In the Klook app, you’ll see an installation link to set up your eSIM on your phone.

If you’re using your browser, the voucher will provide a QR code you can scan with your phone to start the eSIM installation.

Installation Process

Below are some screenshots of the installation process for the Klook Turkey eSIM. Sorry, my phone is set up in Spanish!

Anyways, you will click “Activate” to allow the eSIM to complete installation and activation.

Make sure the eSIM is active so that when you land in Turkey, it automatically connects to the network and your days officially begin.

Set the Network to “Roaming”

This is a super important step to get the eSIM to work. Go to your network settings and make sure roaming is enabled, and voilĂ , you should be connected!

Final Klook eSIM Turkey Review

I’ve been in Turkey for over a month and installed the Klook eSIM before I arrived and once while I was here. No issues with access at all.

If you follow the Klook setup instructions carefully, it should go smoothly. And you can even reach out to RedTeaGo via WhatsApp or email for support (info provided on Klook).

The eSIM is connected to TurkTelecom, which is quite a reliable provider, although it can drop in more remote areas.

Is the Klook eSIM the Best eSIM for Turkey Travel?

In my experience, it’s the best eSIM for Turkey travel that I’ll continue to use for my visits.

I’ve used Airalo before, but since I cannot access it here now, I’m not sure I trust installing it even before my trip. I love something that’s reliable, and you just know it will work, which is why I can recommend the Klook eSIM option for Turkey.
