One of the best things about visiting Taiwan, especially in the winter, is the opportunity to stay at a hot spring hotel!
Or at the very least, get hourly/day passes to hot springs (which I’ll include for these hotels as well if they offer them).
I’ve stayed at hot spring hotels in Taiwan, dug out my own wild springs in rivers, and have visited hot spring resorts around the country. So I have a bit of an idea of what to expect when looking for the best hot spring hotels in Taiwan to inspire your trip.
This list features some of the best hot spring hotels in Taiwan, offering unique services, stunning rooms, views, and that slice of peace you’re looking for.
While I don’t often stay at fancy hotels in Taiwan, since I usually rent an apartment, that doesn’t mean a girl can’t dream.

Taiwan has hot springs all over, especially in the mountains or in concentrated areas like Yilan County.
These hot spring hotels in Taiwan are some of the most unique, quaint, and creatively designed I could find, because I want to make sure you find something unexpected for your Taiwan trip.

Hot Spring Hotels in Taipei (New Taipei)
Taipei is perfectly located to explore a variety of hot spring hotels and resorts without having to go far. Technically, most of the hot springs are just outside of Taipei, in New Taipei City, in places like Beitou or Wulai, and are easy to reach via public transit.
Whenever I’m feeling like a hot spring escape and I’m in Taipei, catching the MRT and traveling even just 30 minutes to an hour can land me among some great hot spring spots.

I’m kicking off this list of best hot spring hotels in Taiwan with one of the most well-known, semi-budget-friendly hotels in Beitou: The Asia Pacific Hotel.
Even the “cheapest” room has plenty of space and its own hot spring bathtub with views of greenery. Plus, you can pick tatami rooms for a more Japanese-style interior.
Most of the bookings include breakfast as well. Plus, if you stay during the hotter months, there is a full-size pool!
Volando Urai in Wulai
Budget: $$$
Ideal for: Short trips in Taipei and accessibility via public transit; includes shuttle for guests
Volando Urai is one of the hot spring hotels in Taiwan that is at the top of my bucket list. The river views from the tubs, the included meals, and even a shuttle service from Xindian MRT make this a premium experience.
It’s definitely on the more expensive side of hot spring hotels, but the services and setting are worth it.
If you’re planning a birthday getaway, an anniversary, or a special trip, this is one of the places to consider that’s not too far from Taipei.
Wulai Pause Landis Resort
Budget: $
Ideal for: Short trips in Taipei and accessibility via public transit, about 2 hours from Taipei

Wulai Pause Landis is one of the more budget-friendly hot spring hotels in Taiwan that is still giving luxury vibes. The rooms have either lake or mountain views, giving guests a tranquil view from their private hot spring tub.
They also include breakfast so you can get right back to cozying up, especially if you visit during the cooler seasons!
Villa 32 in Beitou (16+ only)
Budget: $$$
Ideal for: Short trips in Taipei and accessibility via MRT/taxi

Villa32 in Taipei is one of the more luxurious and private hot spring stays in Taiwan. They have a limited number of beautiful suites, with either Japanese or European design and furnishings. And of course, each stay has its own private hot spring bath.
Hot Spring Hotels in Hualien County
If you’re planning to spend some time on Taiwan’s East Coast, Hualien is one of the best places to explore hot spring hotels. Especially if you enjoy the outdoors here, then having a soaking tub awaiting you at the end of the day is more than a welcoming idea!
Butterfly Valley Resort
Budget: $$
Ideal for: Finding a natural escape and exploring countryside Taiwan, somewhat accessible by train
What caught my eye about the Butterfly Valley Resort is that it’s so far from almost everything, yet STILL accessible by train from Hualien Station to Fuyuan Station (about 1 hour). Now you will need to catch a ride from there, but given Taiwanese hospitality, there’s a chance someone from the hotel could pick you up!
Better yet, this hot spring resort would be best visited by car so you can explore the surrounding mountainous areas!
Aside from a variety of stunning rooms and villas, you get two meals a day included, and there are even hiking trails nearby.
Ruisui Sunshine Hot Spring B&B
Budget: $
Ideal for: Easier to access from Hualien by public transit and budget-friendly
The Ruixiong Hot Spring Hotel is located in Ruisui, a small town directly connected to Hualien by train. In fact, Ruisui is a town in Taiwan with many hot spring hotels.
So, what stood out to me about the Sunshine Hot Spring B&B? This is one of the best hot spring hotels in Taiwan for the price, combined with its modern rooms and partially outdoor private hot spring tubs. Of all the hot spring hotels in this list, this is one of my favorites.
Plus, they offer bikes and continental breakfast for guests.
Hot Spring Hotels in Yilan
Yilan is famous for hot springs in Taiwan, and here are a couple of the most beautiful ones, particularly in Jiaoxi.
Onsense Villa
Budget: $
Ideal for: Short trips from Taipei, easy to reach by train
Onsense Villa is one of the best budget hot spring stays in Taiwan that’s not far from Jiaoxi train station. As I’ve been to Jiaoxi multiple times, you can’t go wrong with a hot spring hotel for a night with some peaceful hikes and mouthfuls of scallion pancakes in between.

Note that most rooms have a large hot spring soaking tub, but not all do, so be sure to double-check before booking.
Two other aspects that have sold me on Onsense in Jiaoxi are the included breakfast & bikes to get around! Jiaoxi is quite walkable, but you can definitely explore more by bike.
Mu Jiao Xi Hotel
Budget: $$
Ideal for: Short trips from Taipei, easy to reach by train
Mu Jiaoxi is one of the newer 5-star hotels that’s building quite a reputation in this little hot spring town.
They have rooms with private terraces and, of course, your own hot spring tub with views over the trees. This is one of my favorite memories from my visit to Jiaoxi.
And there’s even a video game room and play area, making this a great hot spring hotel option for families with kids or teens.
Hot Spring Hotels in Miaoli County
I only got one suggestion for Miaoli County, but let me tell you, it’a bucket-list one for sure.
Onsen Papawaqa
Budget: $$
Ideal for: Visiting a part of Taiwan you didn’t think of and being surrounded by mountains
Onsen Papawaqa is one of my favorite hot spring resorts in this list. Just looking at the photos, I can feel the fresh mountain air and hear the river flowing by. It’s a luxurious hidden gem that you can reach by taxi from Miaoli, or, even better, by rental car.
In addition to natural hot spring tubs in the rooms, they have an outdoor infinity pool, outdoor hot springs, and 3 restaurants. And breakfast is included to make your day start easier.
If you want to surround yourself with Taiwan’s scenic mountains, hike, and rest, then consider the Onsen Papaqawa.
Hot Spring Hotels in Sun Moon Lake
Sun Moon Lake is where you’ll find some of the most expensive and luxurious hot spring hotels. If you’re looking at this list for inspiration for a romantic getaway or anniversary, these might be for you!
Fleur de Chine
Budget: $$$
Ideal for: Creating a luxurious trip to Sun Moon Lake
Fleur de Chine is one of the most luxurious hot spring hotels in Sun Moon Lake, where each room has its own private balcony and natural hot spring-fed tub.
It also includes 2 meals a day, so you can relax without worrying about what to eat and spend more time enjoying the best of what Sun Moon Lake has to offer.
I’ve only been to Sun Moon Lake once before (to do the annual swim!), but trust me when I say the lake and mountain views are mesmerizing. This is definitely one of those hot spring hotels in Taiwan for planning a romantic getaway or a luxurious trip with friends/family.
Grand Hilai
Budget: $$$
Ideal for: Creating a luxurious trip to Sun Moon Lake
The Grand Hilai is probably one of the most luxurious hotels in Taiwan, with spacious rooms, private terraces, and hot spring tubs overlooking Sun Moon Lake.
They also include an amazing breakfast buffet with Asian, Italian, & American-style dishes.
Everything about the experience at this hotel is detailed beautifully, from the outdoor pool area to the lobby. If you’re looking for an expensive escape in Taiwan with hot springs, the Hilai delivers.
Hot Spring Hotel near Taichung
Taichung may not be known as a major hot spring destination in Taiwan, but with nearby mountains, it’s an option worth considering.
Uni Resort Ku Kuan
Budget: $$
Ideal for: Mountain escapes with family, best with a car
From the outside, the Uni Resort Ku Kuan doesn’t look like anything special, but its decor and facilities stand out among the hotels on this list.
While each room has its own hot spring bathtub, it’s the interior design that really impresses me (likely the green theme, as it’s my favorite color).
There’s also a shared hot spring area, a pool, and a gaming area, making this stay ideal for families.
Due to the location, driving is best, but the bus is also an option from Taichung.
